After crashing out of the Tour de Suisse, Maxime Monfort has been checked at the hospital in Herentals. The Belgian may return to competition at the Belgian championships in a little less than two weeks.
Tests in the hospital of Herentals yesterday afternoon showed that Maxime Monfort, who crashed in the second stage of the Tour de Suisse, has a heavy bruise of the acromion. The acromion is a prominence of the shoulder to which the collarbone is attached. Kinesiotape was attached to Monfort's right shoulder. He now has to rest a few days. It's expected that he will be able to train on the rollers at the end of this week at the earliest. The chance that he will be able to take part in the Belgian Championship on Sunday 29th of June is fifty-fifty, depending on how the injury heals.
YesterdayJelle Vanendert was forced to leave the Tour de Suisse after a crash as well. The Limburger has a bruised left knee and left elbow.
