Rudy Molard (Cofidis) started the final stage of the Tour du Limousin with a 1-second deficit to Jesus Herrada but ended the race in third overall after Sonny Colbrelli had scored enough bonus seconds to take the win.
"I tried everything today," he told Directvelo. "I tried to do the first sprint. I was third behind Colbrelli and Herrada, so I knew I had to do it with three kilometres to go and hope the Italian wouldn't win the stage. It was complicated.
"I tried to attac on the last climb, I went alone and it was not enough. Nicolas Edet also tried his luck. We have done everything to try to reverse the race, but we have not succeeded it. However, we leave with a stage win and a podium which is pretty good.
"This is my first podium in a Class 1 race (he finished third in the Tour of Gevaudan (2.2) in 2012, ed), it's nice. I will gain confidence. There remains great things to do in the end-of-season races with profiles that suit me. I will continue with Plouay, Fourmies, the Tour du Doubs, and normally the Grand Prix de Wallonie. I don't have the exact program, but it should be those races."
