There will be no Tom Meeusen in the Scheldecross this afternoon. The leader of Telenet-Fidea is suffering from a throat infection and will not be at the start in Antwerp. "Withdrawal from Antwerp today and it is unfortunately no joke," the Belgian announced via Twitter.
The Scheldecross is part of the Bpost Bank Trofee. In the standings, Meeusen is fourth behind leader Wout van Aert, Kevin Pauwels and Sven Nys.
Lars Boom has already had to withdraw because of illness. The Dutchman who had planned his cyclo-cross comeback for this weekend, suffers from gastroenteritis.
