Tom Meeusen was a happy man after he won today's Druivencross Overijse. "I am glad to add my name to the honour roll in this race," he told Het Neiuwsblad. "Such a race is a nice addition to my palmares."
Yesterday Meeusen finished third in the GP Hasselt and today he was the strongest. In short, he was the rider of the weekend after yesterday's winner Kevin Pauwels could only manage 12th in Overijse. "It feels good," Meeusen sais.
"I have been riding well for quite a while. Yesterday it was a shame that I didn't make it into the front group. As a consequence, I had to settle for third place but this victory in a classic makes up for it. This is a beautiful second victory of the season. It was a heavy cross but also a great battle between the four best riders. Finally, it was a long sprint," he said. "I started from afar but luckily I was just able to keep my lead."
