Tom Meeusen bounced back from bad luck to take third in today's Superprestige race in Spa-Francorchamps. Having taken several fourth places this year, the Belgian was pleased to finally take another podium spot.
Tom Meeusen was left wondering what might have been after today's Superprestige race in Spa-Francorchamps. The Telenet-Fidea rider had looked very strong in the early part of the race but was set back when he suffered a puncture that forced him to run with his bike all the way to the pits.
Meeusen made an impressive comeback to rejoin the main group but it caused him to miss out when Kevin Pauwels and Lars van der Haar got clear. In the final part of the race, he started a lone chase and he constantly reduced his deficit but ran out of metres and had to settle for third.
Nonetheless, he was not too displeased with the result.
"Finally another podium after two fourth places in a row," he told Sporza. "The two strongest riders rode away but in the end I still had lots of power. It was a nice course. It is something comletely different from what we usually have. A little variety is nice for us."
