In yesterday’s individual time trial in the Tour Méditerranéen, RadioShack – Leopard – Trek’s Maxime Monfort performed well.
In his first race since the 2012 Vuelta, in which he finished 16th, the Belgian was beaten only by stage winner Lars Boom on the 24 km against the clock, which ended with a climb of the Mont-Saint-Clair.
“I’m very happy”, said Monfort. “In the last few weeks of training I’ve been feeling really good. In fact this type of effort is my specialty – going 30 minutes at full gas. I trained a lot on my TT bike recently."
