This winter Mike Teunissen will do a few national cyclo-cross race. On his personal website, the LottoNL-Jumbo rider has announced that he will be at the start of the National Championships in Hellendoorn in early January.
Teunissen will do the cross races in preparation for the road season. "I'm doing a few national cross races because it fits well into my preparation," he writes on his site. "The first months of the new road season are important to me. Therefore I will not do any international races.”
To prepare for Hellendoorn where the national championships will be held on January 10, Teunissen will do his first race on November 29. After a training camp in Spain in December, the races in Boxtel and Reusel are on the schedule. The weekend before the national championships, the 23-year old rider will ride in Surhuisterveen or in Sint-Michielsgestel.
In 2013, Teunissen had his greatest success in the field as he was crowned U23 world champion in Louisville. He did his last race in February 2014 at the World Championships in Hoogerheide. This season he was neo-pro at LottoNL-Jumbo and did the Vuelta.
