Victor Campenaerts, the Belgian TT champion, is aiming high with his Dutch LottoNL-Jumbo team at the World Championships team time trial tomorrow in Qatar. "Behind BMC and Etixx, it is an open battle," the 24-year European vice champion told Sporza after the course recon this morning.
Campenerts and his teammates have been in Qatar since Monday:
"Moreover, we have also received a special schedule about how we should prepare ourselves. I have had some sessions in the climate room and sauna. I think we are well prepared."
The heat does not bother him.
"I can well handle it, but some other guys do not like it. I guess that it will be so in every team, so I'm not worried about that. We are well-prepared. "
And where will it bring the team?
"BMC is the major favorite. Etixx-Quick Step will certainly also be on the podium but behind them we have an open fight. We can also be part of that.
"In the Eneco Tour, we were third in a very strong field. I think we should aspire to the same place on a good day. That is the highest possible and would be a huge success."
