Lotto Soudal had a mixed day on the penultimate stage of the Tour de l'Eurometropole. Jurgen Roelandts took three important bonus seconds in the first intermediate sprint but Jens Debusschere was unable to do the bunch sprint.
"For the second time in two days, Jens Debusschere had mechanical problems. A rider touched him and again his chain broke. The day started well for us because we took three seconds bonus, but we wanted to fight for victory in the sprint and continue upward trend," sports director Marc Wauters told Directvelo.
"Today we have lost a battle but not the war. Tomorrow we will make every effort to beat Alexis Gougeard. "
Roelandts is 11 seconds behind Gougeard in the overall standings.
