Klaas Lodewyck will not be at the start of the Belgian championships in Tervuren. His team has not listed the Belgian who is recovering from heart surgery, on the start list. "Klaas doesn't have the good condition to play a role," says sports director Valerio Piva.
For some time Klaas Lodewyck (27) has been suffring from heart problems and has undergone a second heart surgery in late May. Lodewyck has been unable to schedule a comeback has expressed to be at the start of Sunday's race.
His team BMC has announced the participants for the upcoming national championships and Lodewyck is missing, just like the injured Philippe Gilbert.
"As things are with the planning at the moment, Lodewyck will be at the start," Piva tells Sporza. "It has no purpose. Klaas does not have the good condition to play a role there."
"How the rest of his season looks like, we do not know yet," Piva quickly adds. "That depends on Klaas' visit to the doctor."
