Bjorn Leukemans defended his leader's jersey in today's second stage of the Tour du Limousin when he finished 8th in the uphill sprint. The Belgian was pleased to have got relatively easily through the stage as he relied on other teams to bring back the escapes.
Yesterday Bjorn Leukemans took his first win of the season when he emerged as the strongest from a 19-rider group. Today he defended his leader's jersey when stage 2 ended in an uphill sprint where he finished 8th.
"Keeping the jersey is a good thing," he told Directvelo. "I did not panic all day. All riders who escaped, were more than ten minutes back. We have also benefited from the work of some teams that were not represented in the different breaks. My feelings are good and the team was strong today. But tomorrow is another day..."
