Bjorn Leukemans went into the Druivenkoers Overijse as the defending champion after having won the race four times in a row. Having had to settle for fourth, the Belgian was disappointed as the new course had made the race too easy.
Having won the race four times in a row, Bjorn Leukemans has dominated the Druivenkoers Overijse. Today, however, his string came to an end when he could only manage fourth in the 2014 edition of the race.
"I'm disappointed," he told Directvelo. "The course was not as tough as in previous years and everyone was on my wheel. There were two or three fast guys in the front group and then it's hard to win.
"The course was not demanding enough to make a difference. Maybe I was the strongest, but there was too much time to recover between the two climbs on the final circuit, which is why the bunch was so big. When we arrived on the circuit, I was disappointed because I knew it would be difficult to win. I will do the GP Plouay on Sunday."
