Stef Clement recorded a nice twelfth place on the stage 11 time trial of the Vuelta a España today. On a course that wasn’t made for the Belkin rider, who had prepared well, the Dutchman only conceded 2’24” to former world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Leopard).
Luis León Sánchez was a second slower than his teammate and ended up thirteenth.
Despite a crash, Laurens ten Dam limited the damage. The Dutchman lost two spots in the GC, but was pleased with his race against the clock.
"I rode a good time trial but unfortunately, I crashed,” ten Dam said. “I had a good rhythm but when I put a bottle back in the cage, I was grabbed by a gust of wind and thrown in the air. Luckily, I found my cadence again quickly. I’ll have to wait and see how I feel tomorrow.”
