Pierre-Roger Ltour (Ag2r) has been one of the revelations of the 2015 season. Two days ago he again put his climbing skills on show when he joined forces with Thibaut Pinot on the climbs in the Tour du Doubs to finish 15th behind the early breakaway.
"We had Jean-Christophe Péraud in the break," he told Directvelo. "Behind, we made sure to stay well placed in the bunch. Samuel Dumoulin told us to position ourselves. Unfortunately, Jean-Christophe was dropped from the breakaway. Meanwhile, Quentin Jauregui was held up by a crash at the bottom of the Larmont climb.
"Bretagne started the climb fast and then the pace went down. There was a first attack from a rider from Bretagne. I found myself with him and Thibaut Pinot. We slowed down again. I attacked again and we ended with just me and Thibaut Pinot. I felt good today.
"It was a weird race. We started again in the finale as we were riding slow for 80km.
"I will continue with the Grand Prix de Wallonie, the Championships of Flanders and the Grand Prix d'Isbergues. Then I will so the Tour du Gevaudan where the team will be led by Romain Bardet and Alexis Vuillermoz."
