Even if the transfer market will be only open on August 1st, some rumours circulate on the web. According to the Spanish media, Mikel Landa will join Team Sky in 2016. The Astana Pro Team rider will sign a two-year deal.
The Basque rider's contract with Astana is expiring at the end of this season. He has publicly stated his will to leave the Kazakh squad, where he hasn’t felt supported neither during his period of severe illness last winter nor during his breakout at the Giro.
Accordig to Cyclingnews, Movistar would have proposed the amount of €1,5 million per year, but Landa would choice the British team. He seems to have picked the two-year, €1.2 million deal proposed by Team Sky.
But, he won't be the only Spanish rider to join Team Sky in 2016. According to El Pais and AS, Benat Intxausti, who currently wears the Movistar jersey, are set to ride for Team Sky.
