The winner of three stages in the Tour of Qatar a week ago, Alexander Kristoff scored his first success in this edition of the Tour of Oman. Already victorious during the 2014 edition, the Norwegian got an impressive victory into the sprint, beating Andrea Guardini and Matteo Pelucchi to the finish line.
For Lampre Merida, Sacha Modolo finished 6th at the finish line just in front of Al Mussanah Sports City.
The jersey of overall leader remains on the shoulders of Fabian Cancellara who had an easy day.
Lampre-merida did an excellent work in the finale but unfortunately they don't have lead-out man Maximilano Richeze at their disposal.
“We have to be honest, today’s result was not what the team had hoped," sports director Philippe Mauduit said. "The last 10 km of this race are always chaotic, also because there isn’t a team of reference in the sprints. We do not have, in this event, suitable men to help Sacha best to express himself in the final sprint.
"A positive note is the beautiful group cohesion that I’m noticing in the agitated moments of the stage, when the boys all move together and support each other. This type of work will definitely be good for the next commitments.
"Tomorrow we expect a stage suited to the characteristics of Rui Costa and Valls, we will see during the race who will be better. Then they will support each other to get the best result. ”
