Despite admitting it will be very difficult to do, Lampre-Merida has hinted they are very keen on trying to get Alberto Contador to sign for them after it appears more and more likely the Spaniard will ride on in 2017.
“We’ve already had some contact with Alberto Contador. Who wouldn’t be interested in such a rider?” team manager Saronni told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “It won’t be easy but we can at least try.”
Lampre currently play host to Diego Ulissi, Rui Costa and Sacha Modolo as their captains, but also have young riders like Davide Cimolai, Simone Petilli, Jan Polanc and Ilya Koshevoy.
