Dutch rider Michel Kreder (Garmin-Sharp) won Saturday’s 4th stage at the 4 Days of Dunkerque as Arnaud Démare (FDJ) maintained his overall lead.

Prior to yesterday’s stage, Démare had assumed complete control of the race, winning the opening three stages outright. Due to the rather hilly and difficult nature of Saturday’s 4th stage, however, the FDJ sprinter was expected to lose his grip of the leader’s jersey. Démare was having none of that, though, and he was able to hold his own although he couldn’t add to his tally.

On the final, slightly ascending finish, Démare had to settle for 5th on the day as Michel Kreder powered home to take a convincing stage win, seeing off the challenges from Florian Vachon (Bretagne Séché Environnement) and Julien El Fares (Sojasun).

4 Days of Dunkerque finishes on Sunday.
