With a fourth place for Raymond Kreder, Roompot Orange Peloton added a new place of honor to its palmares in the GP de Denain Porte du Hainaut . Dylan Groenewegen was 13th in the UCI 1.1 race in Northern France. Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) was the fastest and won his third victory in 10 days.
Like yesterday in Brabantse Pijl, team manager Jean-Paul van Poppel wanted his riders to focus on the finale. "Participating in the finale and focus on a possible bunch sprint was the goal in this race. And they succeeded," Van Poppel said.
"We have done a super finale. In the last kilometer, there were still four good guys up front. And that's what I like to see," said the former top sprinter. Also Etienne van Empel (21th), Wesley Kreder and Brian van Goethem finished in the first group. With the same selection as in Denain, the team will be at the start of Sunday's Tro Bro Leon which is known as the Paris-Roubaix of Brittany.
