In the absence of the country's major stars, the Kolss team made it a clean sweep of the podium at the Ukrainian road race championships. Mikhaylo Kononenko took his first title while his teammates Denys Kostyuk and Oleksandr Polivoda.
The Kolss team is the only Ukrainian UCI team and so had the biggest line-up at today's Ukrainian road race championships. They didn't disappoint, maximizing the benfits of having strength in numbers by making it a clean sweep of the podium.
Last year they had taken the win with former Lampre rider Vitaliy Buts and this time it was Mikahylo Kononenko who took the win. On the 235km course in Bohuslav, he arrived at the finish with an 18-second advantage over his teammates Denys Kostyuk, another former professional, and Oleksandr Polivoda.
The result confirms Kononenko's good form after he recently won the local UCI race Horizon Park Classic and was selected for the Ukrainian team for the European Games where he helt compatriot Andriy Grivko take the silver medal.
