Christian Knees bagged a top 10 finish in the bunch sprint after Team Sky had looked to go on the attack during stage two at the Tour of Denmark.
A tough day of racing and a lumpy finishing circuit produced a barrage of late attacks and Team Sky were looking to get amongst the action. Lars Petter Nordhaug, Kanstantsin Siutsou and Knees all tried to go clear at various points, but with a high pace the race came back together for a bunch sprint.
Knees ran 10th in Aarhus while Edvald Boasson Hagen (MTN-Qhubeka) claimed the victory. The former Team Sky rider kicked early in the sprint and was able to hold on to best team-mate Kristian Sbaragli and Soren Kragh Andersen (Trefor-Blue Water).
Astana helped control the pace during the day and Lars Boom was able to retain the lead after two stages, helped by jumping out to claim three valuable bonus seconds after the break was caught.
Team Sky showed willing and will look to go on the attack again on Thursday, with a hilly stage three looking set to be one of the race's toughest challenges to date.
