Going into the final day of the Ghent Six Days, four teams nurtured realistic chances of winning but in the end pre-race favourites Iljo Keisse and Michael Mørkøv walked away with the honours. On Saturday, the Belgian/Danish team won a lap to cancel the lead of De Ketele/Van Hoecke and De Buyst/Vergaerde and on Sunday, the team repeated the feat, gaining a decisive lap with just a few kilometres remaining of the race.
Van Hoecke/De Ketele provided tough opposition and were trailing by just two points with two sprints to go but then Keisse/Mørkøv launched the decisive attack.
