Bob Jungels (Etixx-QuickStep) enjoyed a fantastic return to racing following his successful Giro d'Italia as he rode to a dominant victory in the Luxembourg time trial championships. On the unusually short 15km course, the young talent was a massive 30 seconds faster than Jempy Drucker (BMC) while Alex Kirsch (Stölting) had to settle for third.
A few weeks ago, Bob Jungels had the attention of the entire cycling world when he wore the maglia rosa at the Giro d'Italia before going on to finish 6th overall and win the white jersey. Since then, he has recovered from his breakthrough performance while gearing up for a great second part of the season.
Today he returned to action as the red-hot favourite for the Luxembourg TT Championships. The huge talent didn't disappoint as he was in a class of his own on the short 15km course in Berbourg.
Jungels was the last rider to roll down the ramp and be stopping the clock in 17.44, he was a massive 30 seconds faster than Jempy Drucker. The performance allowed him to take his second consecutive title and his fourth since he took his first win in 2012.
Jungels will now set his sights on Sunday's road race where he will again start as the defending champion.
