Gert Joeaar (Cofidis) lived to his status as the ovewhelming favourite for the Estonian TT Championships. BeatingSilver Maoma by 1.18 over the 36km coursein in Jüri, he defended his title.
Joeaar first won the jersey in 2014 and so today's victory was his third in a row and in fact he has only missed out on the podium once since 2009. After taking third in 2009, 2010 and 2013 and second in 2011, he finally managed to break the dominance of Rein Taaramae and Tanel Kanget two years ago. However, none of the two biggest Estonian stars have done the race during the last three years and they were both absent at this year's race too.
Joeaar covered the 36km course in a time of 43.54 which was 1.18 faster than last year's runner up Silver Maoma. Ivor Suur was 2.27 adrift in third.
Joeaar will now set his sights on Sunday's road race where he is the defending champion too.
