Yesterday's stage of the Giro d'Italia started without Oscar Gatto. For Androni-Sidermec, it is a signficant loss because the Iitalian is one of the leaders in the Italian team.
In stage 10, Gatto was in the break that had characterized the entire day and could smell the victory until he was the victim of a puncture with 7km to go. The after-effects of a crash have influenced his performance and doctor Maurizio Vicini has recommended his withdrawal.
In the stage to Madonna di Campiglio whi was won by Mikel Landa Meana, the team led by Gianni Savio and Giovanni Ellena, attacked at the start with Simone Stortoni and Gianfranco Zilioli, but their attempts were neutralized. Later Franco Pellizotti tried on the first climb but the group did not give him room. The next break in which the team was not represented was caught and on the final climb it was a battle between the GC contenders.
Marco Frapporti retained the lead in the sprints competition
