After last year’s forced withdrawal due to administrative problems, Team Colombia-Coldeportes makes its return to Tour of Turkey (April 26 – May 3) in 2015, and does it with full confidence in its options to leave a mark on the 8-day race.
With two uphill finishes shaping the overall classification – to Elmali, in stage 3, and Selcuk, in stage 6 – Oscar Pellicioli’s line-up will feature strong climbing forces in Alex Cano, Carlos Julian Quintero and youngsters Edward Diaz and Daniel Martinez, while Sebastian Molano and Edwin Avila will be the go-to guys for the sprint finishes, usually coming in numbers in this race, supported by Juan Pablo Valencia and Carlos Mario Ramirez.
While Quintero comes off a period of altitude training after his good displays at Tirreno-Adriatico and Settimana Coppi e Bartali, Alex Cano has spent the last week recovering from the cystitis that forced him out of Vuelta a Castilla y Leon.
“Alex feels better now, but he could not train a lot over the week, and will look for his rhythm through the race," General Manager Claudio Corti said. “On the other hand, Quintero looks good, and we have a bunch of very young riders bringing their enthusiasm into this race: for Molano, Ramirez, Martinez and Diaz it will be an important experience, and we are looking forward to see what they can do in Turkey.”
