A few weeks after his excellent performance at the Criterium du Dauphiné, Jurgen Van Den Broeck has had a slight setback in his preparations for the Tour de France. Due to a sore throat, he will miss Sunday's Belgian road race championships where Maxime Monfort and Jelle Vanendert have forfeited their participations too.
Three Lotto Belisol riders won't appear at the start of the Belgian championship on Sunday. Jurgen Van den Broeck returned from the Sierra Nevada yesterday and as a precaution he won't start because of a sore throat. With the Tour de France coming up, rider and team don't want to take any risk.
Maxime Monfort still suffers too much of the shoulder injury he incurred in the Tour de Suisse. Jelle Vanendert has a pyelitis. That means that 15 riders will take the start in Wielsbeke.
