Simon Pellaud is one of six riders from the IAM Cycling team who still have not found a team for next season. The Swiss rider has been looking for a team for 2017 for weeks but now seems to finally be at a turning point.
The 24-year-old rider made the announcement in an interview Le Nouvelliste where he explains that he is close to finalizing a deal with a continental team.
"It would be a step down but I can keep riding. I hope that this opportunity will materialize because it will be the last chance to then get a professional contract at the end of 2017.”
Pellaud memorably made a great long-distance attack on a stage in the Vuelta a Espana to try to convince a pro team to sign him. Unfortunately, his efforts were unrewarded.
