Michel Thétaz, CEO of IAM, commented with his customary enthusiasm about the start of the IAM Cycling season.
“Dare, risk, and act are always the keywords for the team. I spoke in these terms to the riders and staff during our pre-season training camp in December at Crans-Montana. They have obviously taken this policy to heart. The guys have tried very hard to create their own chances, working in breakaways, and being active in the sprints. Even if we haven’t always gotten the results we’ve ideally wanted, we will certainly continue in this vein.”
“Dries Devenyns’ victory at the GP La Marseillaise on January 31st proved to be the trigger for IAM Cycling,” Thétaz explained. “And we have had additional successes, with Jérôme Coppel at L'Etoile de Bessèges and Leigh Howard’s victory at the Clasica Almeria, and then to see Roger Kluge win a silver medal in the omnium at the track world championships in London all were certainly great successes. Of course, we will not forget that we took a strong 5th place in the team time trial at the Tirreno-Adriatico.”
“The new recruits have certainly kept their promises,” Thétaz added. “Leigh Howard, Vegard Stake Laengen, and Oliver Naesen have not missed out on the opportunity to show themselves well in the races so far this season, and I am sure Oliver Zaugg’s time to shine will soon arrive. They have all confirmed the positive opinion we had about them when we offered them contracts for the 2016 season.”
