After his great performance at the European Games, Jesus Herrada continued his run of success when he finished third in the Spanish time trial championships behind teammates Jonathan Castroviejo and Gorka Izagirre.
"It was very difficult to manage this time trial," he said. "In the summer with these hot conditions, a rider is usually not accustomed to ride at this time, and it was extremely hard and difficult for everybody.
"Yes, I was good in the youth categories but it is much more difficult to stand out at the pro level against riders like 'Castro'. It's my first podium in the professional TT championships and I am very happy for myself and the team. I hope it bodes well for a repeat on Sunday."
