The family of Cees Stam, who injured in a crash during the second night of competition at the Six-Days of Amsterdam, has today released further information on the results of medical assessment to the 68-year-old former world champion.
Tests undertaken by staff at Amsterdam’s VU hospital reveal that Stam exhibited signs of a heart arrhythmia immediately prior to the crash that appear to have been a contributing factor to the accident.
Stam, who was involved in a battle for victory in the first heat of the derny competition on day 2, crashed heavily and was stabilized at trackside before being taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
