Edvald Boasson Hagen of MTN – Qhubeka was again in the spotlight of a British final on the 6th stage of Aviva Tour of Britain. Matteo Trentin of Etixx – Quick-Step took the win in front of Boasson Hagen.
It was also a good day for Team Cult Energy. Rasmus Guldhammer maintained his podium spot, but is now only 1 second ahead of Owain Doull from Team Wiggins as the Brit obtained some bonus seconds on the stage.
“Today was like a war zone from the start to finish. A group of 30 people got away after just 15 km and most of the GC riders were present. The race was really fast all the way. A lot of small groups constantly tried to get away, but were always caught," sports director Luke Roberts said.
“In the final, the yellow jersey went away and joined the remaining part of the breakaway and Rasmus Quaade and Guldhammer was in the main peloton. Guldhammer lost a few seconds to 4th place due to Owain Doull of Team Wiggins getting some additional time bonuses. Rasmus is now only 1 second in front of the rider from Team Wiggins."
