"Without radios it's difficult to scream when you have a flat tire."
Those were the words of Astana's Andrea Guardini after stage two at the World Ports Classic. Guardini suffered a flat rear tire with 14km to go on a cobbletsone section of road just before a tunnel.
Teammates Ruslan Tleubayev and Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev led a full-team effort to bring General Classification leader Guardini back to the main peloton, and with 5km to go the group was together in anticipation of a mass sprint. At 4km to go a crash in the middle of the peloton split the group, and Guardini was delayed behind the leaders.
Guardini finished 33 seconds behind stage winner and racewinner Kris Boekmans of Belgium.
