In the GP Stad Zottegem Dylan Groenewegen underlined that his good shape in the last few weeks is still there. The Roompot rider finished 7th in the Flemish UCI 1.1 race. Groenewegen didn't manage to catch the final escapees and it was Kenny Dehaes (Soudal Lotto) who too the win.
Earlier in the 190-kilometer Flemish semi-classic Ivar Slik and Brian van Goethem were part of a large group of escapees. However, they were unable to follow the best in the finale. There was bad luck for Johnny Hoogerland and André Looij. Both riders had to abandon due to crashes. Looij got some stitches in his chin and is suffering from a sore wrist. In the coming days it will be determined whether the young sprinter can start the Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic on Friday.
