After a mostly disappointing season, Tom-Jelte Slagter (Cannondale) showed good condition in his preferred terrain in the Ardennes when he finished fifth in the queen stage of the Eneco Tour.
"Good, but wet day @EnecoTour today. Satisfied with the result and good legs today, after strong teamwork @Ride_Argyle #recovery," he tweeted after the stage.
As opposed to this Dylan van Baarle paid the price for his heroic ride yesterday as he lost more than nine minutes and dropped out of GC contention after having started the stage in secon overall.
"Wasn't my day.. Luckily our pocket rocket @tomjelteslagter was there ! Thanks to the @Ride_Argyle guys for the support," he tweeted after the stage.
Slagter is now 12th in the overall standings.
