The 47th edition of the Grand Prix Samyn (1.1) is not tailored for the sprinters this year. By working on the traditional route, it includes 13 cobbled sections totaling 13 kilometers in the final of this year’s event, which takes place on Wednesday. The GP is ridden on March 4 between Quaregnon and Dour.
The arrival of the edition of 2015 is in the center of Dour, where the race finishes with three local laps. According to the organization, the toughest cobbled sector, which received a three-star difficulty, lies just over two kilometers from the finish.
The men's race will be preceded by the GP Samyn for women, a competition that is part of the Lotto Cycling Cup. Last year the Swede Emma Johansson (Orica-Ais) won the race. In the men’s event, it was the Belgian Maxime Vantomme (Roubaix Lille Metropole).
GP Samyn is the opening of the new Lotto Wallonia Cup, a new concept which all Walloon pro races are part of. Besides the GP Samyn, there is GP Cerami (22/07), Tour of Wallonia (25-29 / 07), the GP Wallonie (16/09), the Tour de l'Eurometropole (30 / 09-4 / 10) and Binche Chimay Binche (6/10).
