Alexis Gougeard (Ag2r) finished safely in the bunch to defend his overall lead in the Tour de l'Eurometropole. However, he saw his lead over stage winner Jens Debusschere being reduced by 10 seconds due to bonus second.
"Today the sensations were good," he told Directvelo. "I want to thank the excellent work of my team who protected me well throughout the day. The wind was strong. This made the race nervous. It will not be easy to keep the jersey as Jens Debusschere is threatening overall. He seems to be very fit. I must clearly be wary of him."
