In his first season with Garmin-Sharp at the WorldTour level, Andre Cardoso secured himself a spot at Jonathan Vaughters' new Cannondale-Garmin team. Next year he plans to ride the Giro d'Italia and there is achange that he will also be at the start of the Tour de France.
Andre Cardoso will start his season at the Challenge Mallorca before he does the Volta ao Algarve, Volta a Catalunya, Vuelta al Pais Vasco and the Tour de Romandie in preparation of the Giro d'Italia. "After two participations in the Vuelta and the Giro, it would be a dream to ride the Tour. The course suits my characteristics and I am on the short list. Now I have to prove that I have the condition to be in France alongside Talansky who will be the team leader," Cardoso told the Portuguese sports daily A Bola.
Cardoso has returned from a first team gathering with his team in American and in the Virgin Islands where he spent five days on a boat before he spent his honeymoon in Boavista.
"The schedule is important and will allow me to contribute to the team, especially in Italy, where Hesjedal will be the leader," he confirmed.
In 2014, he was 4th in the GP Miguel Indurain, 20th in the Giro and 25th in the Vuelta a Espana. Cardoso raced in Portugal for four years before he joined Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in 2012. This year he raced his first year at the WorldTour level.
