Due to the car crash that decimated a percentage of their roster, Giant-Alpecin have had to pull out of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. They will be able to ride Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne the next day however.
The news was disappointing to Zico Waeytens, who had the race as a target. "It is a decision of the team," Waeytens said to Sporza. "Of course I am sorry, but I have to respect their choice. The team has been affected by exceptional circumstances, and people need to understand that."
Waeytens is expected to lead the team in the Classics in two-time Monument winner John Degenkolb’s absence.
