Robert Gesink is ready to support Wilco Kelderman in the next Tour de France. He made the announcement at today's presentations of LottoNL-Jumbo.
The Dutchmanwas sixth in the last Tour but hopes to be able to focus on stage wins.
"It would be nice to ride the Tour for stages," he says. "We will see whether I will succeed but I want to give it a try. It also depends on who else will go to the Tour. I would have no problem supporting Wilco if he is appointed as leader."
Gesink will have different goals compared to 2015. "This year I want to start quietly and hope to peak later. Catalonia and the Basque Country are my first goals. Then it is the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne and Liège. After the Tour I hope to participate in the Olympics," he says.
