In 2015, Robert Gesink will again have the Ardennes classics and the Tour de France as his major highlights. Apparently recovered from his heart problems, the Dutch rider will be one of the leaders of Team Lotto NL-Jumbo.
At 28 years of age, Robert Gesink goes into his 11th season as a professional and he has now finalized his race schedule. To get the seaon off to a olid start, he will spend three weeks at altitude in Tenerife. The Volta ao Algarve will be his first race in his new jersey and he will continue his racing at Tirreno-Adriatoc and Vuelta al Pais Vasco, according to a report in De Telegraaf.
Amstel Gold Race, Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege will be his first major objectives in the spring. Gesink returns to the Ardennes after a two-year absence. His best results were 3rd in Amstel (2009), 4th in Fleche (2008) and 13th in Liege (2008).
After April, he will focus on preparing for the Tour de France at an altitude training camp, and the Tour de Suisse will be his last test. Since his fourth place in 2010, the Dutch climber has failed in the French grand tour, finishing 33rd in 2011, abandoning in 2012 and finishing 26th in 2013.
