One month ago, heart problems prompted Robert Gesink to put his career successfully on hold but now he is already preparing himself to return to training. The cause for the problems has been founded and treated in an operation and Gesink will be back on his bike as soon as he has recovered from the surgery.
Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM rider Robert Gesink has succesfully undergone an extensive cardiologic examination regarding his cardiac arrhythmia. The cause of the problem has been found and has been treated directly.
Gesink will start training again after a period of rest, and after consulting the Team's medical staff and trainers. It is not known yet when he will ride his first race.
"I am very pleased to put these insecure times behind me. I will start my recovery with full confidence and hope to know more about my schedule soon," Robert Gesink says.
Gesink had originally made the Tour de France his big season goal. It is not yet known whether the Dutchman will still target the French grand tour.
