Robert Gesink will not go for the GC at the Tour de France 2017. "I lament that there are only three uphill finishes," the leader of LottoNL-Jumbo tells De Telegraaf .
Last season Gesink missed the Tour de France because of a head injury. In the Vuelta he rode for stages and won the queen stage.
"It would be nice if that could happen in the Tour de France. That would be very good for me, so as I see it now, I will not go for the GC," the climber adds.
LottoNL-Jumbo sports director Nico Verhoeven did not dare to say whether Gesink will start the Tour as the leader. "It's a possibility," Verhoeven, who also waits for the Giro course, told WielerFlits.
