The passing week opened new chapters for recovering from a crash at the Tour de San Luis Adriano Malori, Fernando Gaviria and Rodrigo Contreras. While the Movistar rider has regained enough strength to be finally transported to Europe, two Colombians from Etixx-QuickStep are already back on their bikes and ready to participate in the Tour du Haut Var.
Malori currently stays in hospital in Pamplona, where he will continue his recovery. Despite his long journey, the Italian rider felt well enough to joke on Twitter and post a funny picture on his Instagram account.
“I want to thank you for your words and your actions. Is a tough fight but someone must also win it,” Malori wrote. “I send this picture to say that you are not going to get rid of me so easily.”
Meanwhile in Italy, Colombians Gaviria and Contreras did a short reconnaissance of this year's Milano-Sanremo route on their way to France, where they will participate in the Tour du Haut Var. The French race will be their first appearance since the crash at Tour de San Luis.
Climbing Poggio made a lot of sense for Gaviria, who will debut in Milano-Sanremo next month. If the accident didn't derailed his preparations too significantly, the 21-year old Colombian might be considered one of the dark horses of this year's La Primavera.
