Garmin-Sharp announces its Tour Down Under roster, which is mostly made of Australian riders, with Rohan Dennis the likely leader, according to the official website of TDU.
Rohan Dennis, a former track world champion in team pursuit, enjoyed a great rookie road cycling season in 2013. With strong time trial ability as well as underrated climbing skills, Dennis won the Tour of Alberta and finished 8th in Criterium du Dauphine.
Last week, Dennis encountered bad luck in Australian time trial, in which he had to abandon the race due to "whirlwind" blowing him of bike. This issue won't affect him much though, as he didn't have any significant injury, and Garmin team can count on him to obtain results in TDU.
Among Dennis' teammates, Steele Von Hoff will be the team's main presence in the sprint stages. Von Hoff won last week's Australian national criterium championships, and seems in good form. Lachlan Morton, stage winner in last year's Tour of Utah and 5th overall in USA Pro Cycling Challenge, is another young rider to watch.
Full roster of Garmin Sharp for TDU: Jack Bauer(NZL), Thomas Dekker(NED), Rohan Dennis(AUS), Caleb Fairly(USA), Nathan Haas(AUS), Lachlan Morton(AUS) and Steele von Hoff(AUS).
