Nick Nuyens has failed to submit his application for a new professional team in time. Het Laatste Nieuws reports that the former winner of the Tour of Flanders had to submit a dossier on October 1, but he requested a postponement. Nuyens now has time until the 20th of October.
The 36-year-old Belgian is trying to obtain a new pro continental license for the Crelan-Vastgoedservice team of cyclo-cross world champion Wout van Aert. In this way, he hopes to get wildcards for classics like Paris-Roubaix. However, there is still a lot of work to do. In a pro continental team, sixteen riders must be under contract while the team under contract only has four cyclo-cross riders. Sponsor Vastgoestservice takes a step back and Nuyens is still looking for a new backer.
