LottoNL-Jumbo will continue until 2018 according to Robert van der Wallen, director of the third major sponsor Brand Loyalty. De Telegraaf reports that his company and supermarket chain Jumbo have already agreed to the project until the end of 2018 and only backing from Lotto is still missing.
LottoNL-Jumbo which has a skating team in addition to the cycling team, will have an annual budget of around 10 million euros, according to Van der Wallen. "When it comes to renewing the sponsorship, Lotto is very positive. But if you decide otherwise, I have some commitment from other parties who are ready to step in," said Van der Wallen. "Where the money will come from and how we share the load is not so interesting but the amount is guaranteed."
While it is essential tha tthat the cyclists of the yellow-white-black formation will stay in the peloton until 2018, the extension is also important for the skating team of LottoNL-Jumbo. Dutch star Sven Kramer is now assured of a team until the next Winter Olympics in 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
