Team Sky reaffirmed their stage race supremacy once again in the Criterium International.
At the moment it seemed Richie Porte was destined to book his second stage race win of the season after Paris-Nice, teammate Chris Froome broke from the elite group on the Col de l'Ospedale and after blasting past all the riders ahead, he stomped across the finish line fully 30 seconds ahead of his teammate in the yellow leader’s jersey to simultaneously take the stage, the overall and establish the pecking order within the Sky team.
The two embraced after the stage, though, and stood side-by-side on the podium, with best young rider Tejay van Garderen (BMC) who came in third.
