After last year’s Tour de France disaster, Sky leader and 2013 winner Chris Froome has told Sky Sports News HQ that he is hungry to take his second win in the world’s biggest race.
“It’s not going to be an easy challenge but I feel as if I am ready. I am hungry as ever to get back in. It’s all to race for,” the Brit said.
“It’s been a much more relaxed approach this year. I don’t have the same pressure as in the past and I’m not coming into it as defending champion.”
With less time trial kilometres than in 2013 and 2014, the race suits Froome less but he is also one of the best climbers in the peloton, and he says the race will be decided in the mountains this year.
“It’s going to be about who’s got the legs up in the high mountains. Getting through those first nine stages before the first mountain is going to be crucial. The race doesn’t start really until we get past those nine.”
“And, as you saw last year, anything can happen.”
