Antonio Piedra will return to professional cycling with Brazilian Funvic Soul Cycles-Carrefour in 2016. The Andalusian is the second Spanish rider in the team after the signing of Pablo Urtasun.
For Piedra, the move to Funvic Soul Cycles-Carrefour means their his return to professional cycling after a season without pinning on a race number but it was a not a wasted year. The Spaniard who won the stage to Lagos de Covadonga in the 2012 Vuelta a Espana, took the opportunity to finish his studies in industrial engineering, without neglecting the physical training.
Piedra announced his farewell to professional cycling after eight seasons in the peloton, the last three with Caja Rural and with that Vuelta stage win as his greatest success.
His teams were Fuerteventura (2007), Andalusia (2008-2011) and Vaja Rural (2012-2014). His won three races, the Vuelta stage in 2012, Norway's Rogaland GP in 2012 and a stage of the Volta a Portugal in 2009, and did six editions of the Vuelta.
